Nighttime Sea Turtle Watches
In the evenings from March 1st through October 31st, the shorelines of Melbourne Beach become North America’s #1 area for sea turtle nesting grounds.
Loggerhead turtles, Green turtles and Leatherback turtles slowly make their way onto our beaches under the cover of night to lay their eggs on our sandy shores.
Because these lovely, lumbering creatures are on the endangered species list, there are strict rules regarding how we interact with them.
Luckily, we have two organizations that are authorized to sponsor scheduled evening turtle walks, so that we can all enjoy watching the wonders of nature in person.
